Onyx is actually a calcite marble that has a strip texture and has a high polishing ability.  There are calcite crystals along with aragonite in the form of coarse to fine crystals in the field.  Onyx stone can be formed in the form of pure calcite, white to milky in color, or with the presence of various impurities such as magnesium, hematite, limonite, mica, graphite, serpentine, etc.  , green, pink, yellow and red.  Onyx stones are shiny and have the ability to pass light. The main mineral that makes up onyx is calcite, which is recrystallized under the influence of temperature and pressure of the earth's layers and has created the texture of onyx in the form of large and regular crystals.  The main minerals that make up onyx stones are clstone, which is also sometimes seen as dolomite.  In some cases, some onyx are also seen with aragonite mineral.  Different impurities in marble cause different colors in the stone. White onyx has the least amount of impurities and is rarely seen in nature.  One of the most important characteristics of onyx stones is the brightness and light transmission properties.  On the other hand, onyx stones do not absorb heat and are one of the best choices for decoration in hot and dry weather.

Benefits of onyx stone - High resistance against internal and external destructive factors -          High brightness - Light transmission property - Absence of heat absorption - Sandability and polishability Disadvantages of onyx stone - expensive - Color change in sunlight - Corrosion in the vicinity of acidic substances - The possibility of scratching
